Transforming Presence by Dan Henderson

The book states How the Holy Spirit Changes everything from the Inside out. I have met the author years ago and can hearty recommend his book In his book he teaches us what the Scripture says about the indwelling Spirit of God. This book can be life-changing and will show you how to think, speak,[and sing] rightly about him.

Jay Adams, The Christian Counselor’s Commentary

I have decided this year to read/study his entire set of 10 volumes. Since I am a biblical counselor with my early training under Jay this is labor of love. I have read this year Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, and now am going thru the Corinthians. [Previously I have read thru Proverbs.] I can testify of the value and Jay’s insight for anyone who wishes to be a biblical counselor.

Dr David Jeremiah preached a series called “Slaying the Giants in your Life” this summer.

As a biblical counselor, I decided to get more of the book marks to pass individual problems to my clients as homework. It is working to have the clients put a card on the topic they are struggling with in their Bible or book that they are reading to remind them of the Scriptures that they can claim to help overcome the sin or problem.

Ravi Zacharias, The Logic of God

This book has 52 Christian essentials for the heart and mind This books takes you on a journey for answers about exactly what you believe, what you don’t, and how you can reconcile your real world doubts with genuine faith.

This book published in 2019 is a must read for skeptics!

I also like the clear format and reflective questions.

UnDo It! by Dean & Anne Ornish

This book has over 500 pages and was published by Ballantine books, 2019.

Harvard University Medical School professor of genetics David Sinclair states “This book will change your life. After forty years of research, the Ornishes have distilled their findings and the medical literature into a fact- based, simple recipe for longer healthier life.”

This for me is not just another book to review, but has and is a life changing book to maintain my heart health rather than undergo a quadruple bypass surgery.

Special note: this is a secular book of health on the benefits of plant food dieting. but I do not endorse all of its contents that stresses secular mediation on pages 171-.246. but prefer mediation as taught by the Puritans.

Look up “God’s Battle plan for the mind” [The Puritan Practice of Biblical Meditation] by David W. Saxton.

Lies Men Believe by Robert Wolgemuth

This book came about because marriage of Robert to Nancy DeMoss
He states in a subtitle ‘The Truth that sets them free”
The format of this book very unusual and very readable for the 40 lies.
in 289 pages.
I highly recommend this great book for men. I have finished the book on March 17. 2019.

Spiritual Reformation

This topic has become in some larger churches a separate department.

I have researched and found two current books that help explain it.

Renovation of the Heart by Dallas Willard published by Navpress in 2002.

The second book is Revolution of Character [Discovering Christ’s pattern for Spiritual Transformation] by Willard and Sampson published in 2005.

In my counseling ministry I am using these book with clients who wish to go deeper in their relationship with the Lord.

Humility by Andrew Murray

I had a few minutes, so I visited an Ollies to check out their books. What I found was the above book. I can highly recommend this small book with a great message we all need to practice.

It is a classic published by Bethany House in 2001.

Cherish by Gary Thomas

I am presently reading and have found the book a great help for men who need to be a romantic husband with words.

I have now finished this inspiring book on Nov. 13, 2018. It is filled with ways a husband or wife can cherish their spouse.

Read it and it will bless your marriage.
